Washington, DC – Today Congressman Todd Akin, (R-MO) voted against a record-shattering $3 trillion budget, which would burden Americans with the largest tax hike in American history. The Concurrent Budget Resolution for 2009 (S. Con. Res. 70) increases taxes on Americans by $683 billion.
"At a time when American’s are facing increasing financial hardships, this budget only adds to the burden on hard working American families by sharply increasing government spending and raising taxes" said Akin. "Not only is the majority not acting to address skyrocketing energy and gas prices, they are proposing to cut the child tax credit in half and impose greater taxes on family’s investments."
