Washington, DC – Congressman Todd Akin (R-MO), today expressed concerns about a foreign buyout proposal on Anheuser-Busch. Following a meeting with potential buyer InBev’s CEO, Carlos Brito, Akin released the following statement:
“Anheuser-Busch is a vibrant and integral part of St. Louis, and the model of a great corporate citizen. The last time I met with CEO August Busch, I needed a PhD in tax and pension law because he was totally energized about how to provide the world’s best pension packages for his employees. I feel confident that any proposal which threatens the institution of Anheuser-Busch will be rejected outright by the St. Louis community.”
Akin, who represents the greater St. Louis area, stated that he will be carefully monitoring talks between the companies.
