Washington, DC – Congressman Todd Akin (R-Mo), voted against a historic increase in government spending in President Obama’s budget that passed the House today.
"The budget proposed by President Obama and championed by House Democrats seeks to outspend all previous administrations collectively. His proposed budget that seeks to increase taxes on American families and small businesses during a major global economic downturn, is a recipe for economic disaster.
"I could not vote for an unprecedented level of spending that threatens to burden not only current taxpayers but future generations of taxpayers with crippling levels of taxation and unprecedented government growth.
"Moreover, while increasing government spending and taxation, the President’s proposed budget will ultimately cut funding for major military assets, which will erode the security of all Americans for generations to come."
